This workshop is for practicing veterinarians and residents who would like to develop proficiency in the planning and successful execution of tibial plateau leveling osteotomy using locking TPLO plates for stabilization. The didactic part of the workshop covers clinical examination of the cruciate deficient stifle, TPLO and radiographic planning concepts, the surgical technique of locking TPLO plating, meniscal injury, as well as the outcome and complications of TPLO.  The surgical technique of plate application is practiced on plastic bone models. During the workshop, there will be much opportunity for discussion of questions, concepts, and problems with course faculty.
Learning objectives
Recognize the clinical and radiographic indications for TPLO surgery
Perform surgical planning for TPLO surgery
Apply the principles of locking TPLO plate fixation
Perform the surgical approach for combined stifle joint exploration and TPLO surgery
Be familiar with the application of locking TPLO plates to stabilize the osteotomy
